Hopefully Moving???

T has decided NOW that she wants a different mortgage than the one she originally qualified for and wants more time to finalize it. Our realtor says "we're still closing tomorrow" but he doesn't really know: she could totally back out if she wants to: all she's lost is her earnest money.

We could sue her but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. At this point, we have no closing scheduled for tomorrow but we're supposed to hear the final word in the morning.

Keep your fingers crossed...

Oh, God...what a nightmare. I swear you have been through every possible thing that could go wrong with this sale. I really, really, hope she doesn't flake out on you. It is like she doesn't "get" that you don't just decide you want to change your mortgage the day before closing.

I was just talking to our mortgage broker today, and he said once you are locked in, that usually is it, because time becomes a factor. If you go under contract, and then rates change w/in a week, then you have time to see if you can get another mortgage, but really you don't have time after that, if you are closing in a month.

How come no one explained this to HER?

I assume you have on your new house, if you don't close on your old house, then you don't lose your earnest money? If worse comes to worse, and she really does pull this, maybe you can just postpone your closing date too on the new place, and not lose your house or earnest money.

What a stress- I'll keep my fingers crossed. Call me if you want tomorrow, I'll be at work- I'll try touching base w/ you in the AM. Hang in there.

What a pain in the a$$ this chick is! Heather is right though... Because you're deal with the new house is contingent on the sale of your house, postponing your closing date shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck!! I'll be thinking about you!

UPDATE: We are closing at 4pm today. We were supposed to close at 9am so I guess 7 hours later isn't that big of a deal...

At least we don't have to sue her. We're moving tomorrow! If you're around, swing by to help carry boxes!
